About the Author
Steve Asbell started a blog called The Rainforest Garden�to share the progress of the garden that he planted for his terminally ill mother, and is in the process of starting a garden for his soon-to-be born son. Asbell currently lives with his wife Jennifer in Jacksonville, Florida, where he makes his living as a writer, blogger and illustrator. His illustrations have appeared on Ferry-Morse seed packets, on apparel and websites such as Gardening Gone Wild and�Southern Living online. His projects and writings have been featured on Apartment Therapy, Mashable, Mother Earth News and several publications. Plant by Numbers is Asbell's first book, but it won't be his last. Finally! Gardens for inside the house.

Steve Asbell opened my eyes to houseplants in a new light. I never was much of an interior plant person--shedding ferns on a stand, an orchid with a stem long separated from its flower head, and keeping a poinsettia past its prime. I now know I don't need to settle. I can created lush container beds for inside my home. Steve's 50 combinations and pairing knowledge plus plant picks has made it so easy to get the light, water, and soil requirements right for the first time indoor garden creators. I recommend buying this book.

Great book for houseplant lovers!

Steve does an excellent job at creating designs with house plants that the novice-average gardener could easily put together. The projects are unique and look great. It's obvious the author is both knowledgeable and passionate about indoor gardening!

My creative mind was awoken.

The book was written in a fun, clear manner and I really enjoyed all of the arrangements. The only problem I have is not being able to purchase,most of the plants in the book. I have, since reading the book, been collecting various containers, did buy a variety of available houseplants and am very anxious to start making my arrangements. They may not be the same, but reading the book and looking at the arrangements, spurred me on to become creative with what I have. Very happy to have purchased it.
