Good story but...

I enjoyed reading about Ryder and Naomi. I was annoyed by Naomi and her insistence on showing she was independent by arguing with Ryder all the time. I also wish the story was longer. More history about Naomi and her family. How did they get magical blood in their bloodline?

I would like to read more work by this author because I thought she had a solid foundation with this story. I would like to see her growth as an author. She has great potential.

Nighttime at Willow Bay

PLOT: After a bad breakup, Naomi Johnson decides to go camping in the woods of Willow Bay to find some peace. She ends up spending the night running away from demons.

PROS: The initial meeting between Naomi and Ryder is amusing. He sounded yummy.

CONS: I can barely express how much I hated Naomi. The girl needed therapy. Ryder comes along and saves her yet every time he suggests that they get going, she protests like an idiot. She’s completely out of her depth but refuses to listen to the one person trying to help her. It’s meant to show her strength of character, but what it actually shows is a wealth of ignorance. She’s thanking him one second and then arguing with him in the next second from some imagined slight. It made her appear wishy-washy. I wouldn’t have blamed him if he left her stranded in the woods. It would have been no more than she deserved.

This might just be me, but I hate stories about road trips and journeys in romance novels. It’s boring. The night seemed to go on forever. At times, even Naomi talks like she’s been in these woods forever. Road trips also stretch belief because, sure, if you’re being chased by demons, you’d naturally stop and have a little sexy time. By the way, that one love scene is forgettable and really doesn’t add anything to the story. I read it like thirty minutes ago and I’ve already forgotten the details.

Even the conversations in this one annoyed me. I know they were supposed to be funny, but they just seemed so childish. I felt like I was reading about a bunch of ten year olds. So many conversations ended in “Shut up.”

Ordinarily I wouldn’t even mention the minor errors in the book, but since there is mention of an editor I expect more. I’m assuming the author meant “pummeled” when Ryder was in a fight and not “plummeted.” And when Ryder’s brothers were staring at him and Naomi naked, I’m assuming he meant for him to call them “pervs” not “perps.” There were other small editing issues but these stood out the most.

2 STARS: The hellishly annoying heroine and boring plot made this a struggle to finish. I was so glad when it was over. I’ve bought every book by Kasey Moone and I was excited to see this new release. I’m glad I borrowed this one instead of buying it.

Good Read but I wanted more!!

This was a very good read but it ended to soon there was still so much more to tell and questions left unanswered. I loved the main characters and their craziness together made for some very funny moments. I love a strong female character but I felt she was to strong she never gave an inch and it felt like it took forever for them to get together because she was always comparing him to her ex and saying she hated men. I get that she was hurt and it was hard for her to trust in love again but did she have to fight the hero through the whole book by the time she finally allowed herself to open up to him the story was ending. And you never find out about the people who reside in Willow Bay Forrest or her aunt who first warned her away from the Forrest in the beginning and why she did it was just so much more to tell but it ended to soon. I really hope that the author decides to expand this into a series with the Jory Brother's there's a story with each of them in there and maybe a follow-up to Naomi and Ryder as well.

Disappointing retelling of "Swan Lake"

Hell hath no fury like a fan disappointed. While I loved FIRE ROSE, THE BLACK SWAN left me cold ( and in hard cover, no less). It wasn't the new happy ending to the tragic tale (I never cared for tragedy anyway), but the lack of logical character development. Siegfried's conversion from rapist to lover is hardly convincing and Odette's character is totally unknown for the first 100 pages of the book. Odile, who manages the happy ending for the other two and a considerable increase in wealth for the principality, is left with the satisfaction of doing good, a home in the aforementioned kingdom (the least they could do) and the possibility of a lover in the Prince's sidekick, "Benno." (What kind of name is that for a love interest?!) Not satisfying at all!

Another Beautifully Done Mann Masterpiece & Accessible TOO!

Perhap's the Master's shortest and most unusual novella, here we see yet another side to this early 20th Century Genius. A study of a middle aged woman slightly deluded about her aging charms with a daughter who seems to sympathize, but really knows better. As usual, some great descriptions of nature, medieval castles, and philosophical discussions between the two. Mann's seeming obsession with the hidden decay of the body, and perhaps German culture and society, are crystal clear. The writing, even in English, is among his most mesmorizing. Really is there any doubt he is the GREATEST 20th Century Writer?!

I thought by all the information on the web this book may be a good resource of recipes and advice. While I like the exercises included in the book the recipes are not for the average person. Unfortunately, smoked mackerel crudit�s, sesame tuna steak and Courgette Bolognese are not favs in our home! If you are interested in eating "spa" like food this book may the answer for you. Also, the author says if you don't like it don't eat it but goes on to say to follow the recipes closely in the beginning of the "Method". There is no guidance on how to may your own meals (other than low GI foods and protein at each meal).

The very first time i have ever been disappointed with a Haynes manual.
They just tried to cram too many models into this edition and it suffers incomplete information for many procedures. Perhaps the English don't work on their cars as much as the Americans do, though. There just isn't as much information as i would have like to see in this book.
i'll be looking for a factory manual.

Better than other repair manual, but not equivelant to a shop manual

This book is better than a Chilton manual or your owners manual but not the equivelant of the older "Motors manuals". It is not anywhere near a shop manual. I had a problem with my ETM and it tells me what it is, but not whhere to locate it, how to remove it or how to clean it, and those functions are relative easy once y0ou look on the internet. This manual is lacking a lot and I would never buy another for a car. I would spring the the manfg. Shop Manual and if they wouldn't sell me one I wouldn't but that car. Like so many, I'm tired with being ripped off by dealer garages when I can do it my self if I have the same manual.

If you're in the United States, just be aware that it's written in British-English. It is not a problem, but I do have to reread parts of it occasionally and remember what "fitment" means. Other than that, it's a typical Haynes manual, very good written descriptions of how to do most everything any backyard mechanic would consider attempting, but washed-out black & white photos that are only marginally helpful. Overall, it is better to have it handy as a reference than not...

Deep Text, nice selection

This is the same book as "The Practice of Dzogchen" previously released in both paperback (no longer available) and hardback. There are lots of introductory Dzogchen books (as there are for Mahamudra, Kabbalah, etc.) and a number of mid-level ones too. This is NOT one of them. There are also pure scholarly works with a small, fervent readership. This isn't one of those either, though scholars may certainly find it very valuable. The commentator/translator excerpts from many of Longchenpa's (Longchen Rabjam's, 1308-63) various texts which are impossible to access in English otherwise. Longchenpa is one of, if not THE, greatest Dzogchen masters of all time. Nevertheless, this is not an easy text to read. Furthermore, it is inconsistent in depth & style (since it's really a set of excerpts). However, this is a definitive Dzogchen text--quite advanced, not for the beginner, challenging, & enlightening. It grows with you and re-reading texts in an unfamiliar area can increase understanding and familiarity (the way Jung studied Alchemy). This is a GREAT book, not to be underrated, but not every book is for every one. IMHO it would be better to read Longchenpa's "Kindly Bent to Ease Us" trilogy before attempting this one. It's a much easier read. Also, I'd recommend reading some Tulku Urgyen, Namkhai Norbu, & Drubwang Tsoknyi Rinpoche books before takling this one.

The most advanced Buddhist text available in English

I say this is one of the few books ever published that require more than an academic approach to understand. Read this book practice the contents with all your heart and you will receive benefit. I met someone who has a certificate of holiness conferred on her according to the Dharma rules who said this book was too advanced for her to even attempt reading. Before reading this, you could start with Buddhism That Every Buddhist Must Follow by Amang Nopu Pamu and H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III A Treasury of True Buddha-Dharma because to practice Buddhism, those books will also be necessary.
