About the Author
A highly respected professional photographer and freelance author, David Wyman brings a vivid passion to his photography and inspires an unmatched level of enthusiasm with readers. Mr. Wyman's photographs and articles have appeared in a variety of national publications, including Backpacker, Outdoor Photographer, Cross-Country Ski, Outside and many others. He has authored three distinguished pictorial guidebooks -- BACKROADS OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, BACKROADS OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, and YOSEMITE IN PHOTOGRAPHS. Mr. Wyman founded Image Quest - a natural history and photography tour company in California in 1982. He has served as the Adventure Travel coordinator at the University of Southern California, where he created the University's Adventure Photography program. He has conducted photography programs and workshops for natural history associations in Yosemite and Death Valley, for UCLA, as well as for the San Diego, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Natural History Museums. When he's not conducting a photography tour, completing an assignment, or writing for his blog, Mr. Wyman is apt to be riding his bicycle or hiking up a mountain, his camera at the ready.

Forty odd years ago at the tender age of ten I was amazed by the work of Ansel Adams.
So grew a lifelong fascination with the medium.
Discovering Dave Wymans’s new book – ‘Fearless Photographer Nature’ was indeed serendipitous.
A skilled story teller, photographic artist, adventurer, philosopher and poet, the author is unique in the modern digital world.
Dave interweaves his technical mastery and professional tips with fascinating stories tinged with the brilliant insights his many followers have dubbed ‘Wymanesque’.
Opening the book at random we see the universe reflected in a puddle.
In another - a young girl is photographed touching the inside of a waterfall, light dancing on her awe struck face.
An orchid is silhouetted against an eclipsed moon.
The magnificent Half Dome in Yosemite is framed by an oak, the bough of the tree mirrors the face of the rock making the image appear like a jig saw puzzle.
Perhaps my favourite photo is of the Black Bear, rising on it’s hind legs, staring down the lens like a supermodel – roiling autumn coloured bokeh tinging the surface of the page.
It’s hard to know which image I like the most, each one is superb, each accompanying story resonates, makes me think – inspires.
Fearless Photography Nature is destined to become a classic and sits on my bookshelf next to work of other visionaries.
Priceless. Timeless.

Dave Wyman is a wonderful photographer, with tremendous enthusiasm and a great eye. This book is not only a showcase of his wide ranging talent, but also a good how-to guide for photographers of all skill levels. Grab the book and head out to get some great photographs of the natural world!

The book is a joy to read

Fearless Photographer Nature is a must read. It will propel the beginning photographer far ahead of others as he or she starts a photographic journey. Intermediate photographers are certain to learn new things, and advanced -- even professional photographers -- could gain new insight.
The book is a joy to read. It is presented in an easy-to-read style with iinsets of advice clearly stated outside of the main body of test, There are dozens, perhaps more than 100 outstanding images, illustrating the points Dave Wyman makes in this book. It is written in a way that is simple to understand, yet it has many facts woven in to each chapter.
Wyman also gives many personal anecdotes garnered from decades of professional and personal experiences. As well as filled with wisdom, many of his experiences have left a smile on my face and sometimes I even have laughed out loud. And sometimes I was in awe of his photos.
From landscapes and wildlife to close-up/macro photography, this book provides a treasure of information. . It has an enlightening chapter on reflections, which Wyman has mastered. It even shows the technique of how to make reflections in a person's eyeball. From a bear and a wolf to flowers and frogs -- even a jellyfish with a crab -- Wyman has a multitude of interesting encounters he generously shares. He has respect for all of his subjects and reinforces that in different chapters.
As well as giving basic information, he shows how to break out of the mode of photographing cliches and how to become a fearless photographer while developing your own personal perspective. He engages the human spirit in his photos
Part of the last half of the book, Wyman gives many tips on technical information, optics, depth of field, high dynamic range (HDR), RAW vs. Jpeg, gear, filters, light and traveling with photo equipment plus much more.
The book has a clear table of contents that breaks down each chapter. Therefore, if you want to immediately refer to something of your interest, it is easy to find. There also is a comprehensive index.
I have been making photographs for any years, and not only did I learn some new tips, I am inspired to take on new photo adventures and styles. I strongly recommend this book to any photographer or as a gift to one, You should be thanked many times over.
