Poor comparison to others

This is the book my residency chose for this year's book review, and I am very disappointed thus far (have read ~ 20 chapters). The grammar and editing are embarrassing at best and do more to get in the way of learning than I would have thought possible. If it were not a violation of copy write, I would include one of the many sentence fragments that often contain up to 4 commas each. This seems trivial, but it is very difficult to read.
The index is atrocious - try looking up "keratolysis exfoliativa." You'll not find it under the K's. Instead, the best shot is to go to exfoliative dermatoses and look in the 12 page range provided (worst case scenario, you actually end up in the "children" heading looking at the exfoliative dermatoses subheading that takes you to cutaneous T-cell lymphomas).
It is also important to wash and dry your hands before opening the book if you have eaten anything within 10 minutes. I ate popcorn one night while studying and the oil on my palm wiped words right of the page of my $300 book.
I'll finish Fitzpatrick because it is part of the residency program. In good conscience, however, I cannot recommend it to those looking to purchase a definitive text. My only other experiences are with Bolognia's "Dermatology, 2nd ed." and "Andrews' Diseases of the Skin." For the PCP, Andrews has the best index you will ever find and it will guide you in the right direction. What it lacks, however, is the detail found in a larger text like Bolognia (968 pages vs 2776 pages) That's where I would start if I were looking at a 2 volume set (and there online support is amazing). To be fair, Bolognia's index is not as good as Andrews', though if you have any difficulty, the online search function of the e-book is wonderful.

I prefer Bolognia

The price is the best of the book. It's cheaper than Bolognia, although in my opinion the last one is much better.
